Search Engine Optimization Mistakes: FramesThere’s quite a bit of debate concerning frames and its effect on search engine optimization. Some argue that if frames are used correctly, it will have no effect on your site’s search engine positioning. Yet others say you should avoid them altogether. We say if there is no real reason to have them, avoid them, but if you must use them, then there are certain techniques that can be used to assist your optimization efforts. If your site uses frames there’s a simple technique called the <noframes> tag that will assist your search engine optimization efforts. If your site uses frames, the <noframes> tag was created to help you display your content to those people that use browsers that are non-frames enabled. It’s crucial for your search engine ranking that you use the <noframes> tag to add your important content to. It’s important that you place the <noframes> tag right after the <frameset> tag because some browsers will display the content present in the <noframes> tag instead of the content that is present within the frame. Your <noframes> tag should look like the following: <frameset border="0" cols="100,75%"> Many people suggest not using frames because older browsers cannot see framed pages. Although this may be true, the larger question is, how many people are using older browsers? By all estimates, not too many. And yes it’s true, frames have been problematic and for the most part we do recommend that you not use them. But if you must, implement the above strategy and you should be okay. Just beware of the doomsayers. There’s usually a solution to every perceived problem. Click Here for a FREE Report or to Request a Proposal.
